Strength and Confidence Come from Within
I have spent the past 20 years as an educator and counselor.
I have served the community as a therapist at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center where I counseled patients with terminal cancer and their grieving families. Also, I am certified as a Crisis Counselor with N.O.V.A. (National Organization for Victims Assistance) and a volunteer during the 911 Crisis in New York City.
I continue to consult with faculty, staff, and parents in developing a plan of care for children with behavior concerns, creates intervention plans, and provides staff with strategies and training on implementation. As a counselor with the Houston Independent School District, I developed and implemented an art therapy program for “at risk” kids who were experiencing a high-drop out rate, were highly stressed, and had low performance skills. The program resulted in dramatic improvements to their productivity.
Also, I am a professional artist that has been painting for over 25 years. I specialize in paintings and murals for both residents and businesses. My art has been displayed in a number of prestigious galleries and museums. I have been a faculty member at the Art Institute of Houston and currently teach at Houston Community College.
I received my Masters in Counseling at Texas A & M University, Corpus Christi and my specialization in Art Therapy from University of Houston Clear Lake. I am a Houston based Psychotherapist, licensed by the Texas State Board of Professional Counselors, and a Registered Board Certified Art Therapist.
